Jane Week: May 2nd – May 7th, 2017

In honor of urban theorist Jane Jacobs’ 101st birthday, Preservation Worcester along with its partners present Jane Week, from May 1 – May 7, 2017 to celebrate Worcester, its history, architecture and people.

Jane Week will feature:

Jane Walks in downtown Worcester and surrounding neighborhoods  (Canal District, Main South, Shrewsbury Street, etc.) led by Preservation Worcester, Walk Bike Worcester, Worcester Historical Museum, Worcester’s Department of Public Health, Main South CDC, Mass Audubon, Canal District leaders and more.

A pop-up parklet on North Main Street to highlight the area.

A street demonstration project with curb bump outs and stop signs at Woodland Academy to  promote safe bicycle routes to school (Walk Bike Worcester).

A Worcester Public School playground party to promote access to safe spaces to play (Department of Public Health).

Tours of key architectural and cultural gems along Main Street.
