S.D. Newton House

8 Sycamore Street

The S.D. Newton House is a fine example of Greek Revival style house, the most popular type of house built in Worcester the late 1840s and 1850s.  The circa 1849 house has a side-hall floor plan, pedimented gable, corner pilasters, side lighted entry and a porch with four Doric columns.  The property has had numerous owners and is now used as a multi-family home.  There is serious exterior deterioration of the paint and the columns.  The owner presently owes a substantial amount in back taxes, and water and sewer bills.
