About the Event

Women have always made a mark wherever they go, and Worcester is no exception.  Over the course of time, Worcester has been the birthplace, home, and final resting place to many accomplished ladies.  From suffragettes to anarchists, social influencers to community advocates, and beyond, many Worcester women charted and changed the course of history.  This program will give an overview of Worcester’s burial grounds and cemeteries, as well as profile over a dozen notable Worcester women whose accomplishments and contributions influenced our city, the nation, and the world.

Brenda Sullivan has been immersed in gravestone art, history, and symbolism for more than 30 years.  Her education in Art History and restoration led to the creation of Gravestone Girls and a mission to "Keep Our Dead Alive" through educational lectures, tours, classes, and the creation of New England gravestone replicas.

The program is free and open to the public. It will be offered both in-person and virtually.

This event is graciously funded by Mass Humanities.
